We offer online services for all users

Each day the Spanish National Library offers more online services for all its users:

  • Distance application for the BNE card.
  • Advanced reservation request: Users can reserve the archives that they wish to consult on a particular date in advance.
  • Request copies of archives: Users can request copies of the archives they require and these can be sent to their home address.
  • Interlibrary loans: Any user that has a BNE card can make use of this service which gives them access to documents from other Spanish and foreign libraries.

  • Purchase suggestions: The BNE is open to suggestions on the purchase of books and bibliographical material from its users.
  • Donations: Donations to the Spanish National Library can be made online by filling in the corresponding form.
  • ISSN request: Any entity that wishes to request the ISSN can do so online as the Spanish ISSN Centre is managed by the BNE.
  • RefWorks: Tool which enables users to personalise and create their own bibliography.
  • Cultural Activities Newsletter: Monthly digital newsletter in which you will find the cultural programme and activities organised by the Spanish National Library. If you wish to receive a copy of this newsletter via email, simply fill in the form.
  • Ask us: A consultation service for receiving bibliographical information on all subjects and general information on the national library's archives and collections, run by specialised staff from the library.
  • Institutional email: To contact any National Library department or service, here you will find a directory of email addresses.
  • Opinion: A space for opinion, comments and suggestions that the Biblioteca Nacional offers users in order to improve its services.

Onsite services

The library also offers the following onsite services:

  • Archive consultations in different rooms depending on the material you wish to consult.
  • A programme of user training, aimed at facilitating use of the library and its consultation tools, and raising awareness of its collections and services.

Publications and publishing activity

Lastly, the library carries out extensive publishing activity in different areas: exhibition catalogues, printed catalogues and bibliographies, studies, guidelines, guides and library regulation texts.
