Processing and payment

On receiving an application, Biblioteca Nacional staff will quote a fee based on the current price schedule. When receipt of payment of the same is confirmed by Banco de España, library staff will reproduce the requested archives.

Prices stated in the schedule include VAT, but not postage

Please note that technical issues may mean that the final reproduction fee is lower than initially quoted. In this case, the Biblioteca Nacional will reimburse the applicant the difference. If the final fee is higher than initially quoted, the applicant will pay the Biblioteca Nacional the difference.

Payment Methods

The Biblioteca Nacional accepts three payment methods:

  • Direct payment in the Reproductions Office
  • Deposit or transfer into account number ES249000 0001 20 0200009399 (Banco de España. c/ Alcalá, 48. 28014. Madrid) called “Biblioteca Nacional - Ingresos por los servicios de Reprografía” on the deposit/transfer slip.

Transfers made from outside of Spain should include BIC (SWIFT) code ESPBESMM.

Transfers made from outside of Spain should include IBAN code ES2490000001200200009399 and BIC code ESPBESMM.

In order to facilitate payment identification, the applicant's full name and the application reference number stated on the fee quotation must be included.
  • By bank cheque in euros made out to "Servicio de Reprografía al Público de la Biblioteca Nacional".
Cheques issued against foreign bank accounts must be cleared by a Spanish bank.

Once receipt of payment of the fees has been verified, the archive reproduction request will be processed within 60 working days. The maximum period within which to submit a status query is two months from the date of receipt of the order
