In order to facilitate readers' access to the collection, the Biblioteca Nacional provides a document reproduction service designed to make the most of new technologies. The restrictions and limitations on the reproduction of certain archives established under the current regulations are either in compliance with current legislation (Intellectual Property Act - Ley de Propiedad Intelectual) or are the result of measures designed to ensure the integrity and proper use of the archives.
This section provides information on which documents may be reproduced, which type of reproductions are available (copies on paper from microfilm or digital media, copies of digital archives, copies on microfilm, photographic enlargements, slides, audio recordings and video recordings), the purpose of application and the ways in which reproductions may be obtained (personal request or prepaid order).
In order to use this service, users should complete the archive reproduction request form (spa), including as much data as possible in order to reduce the response time. The applicant will receive a fee quotation for the authorised reproductions according to the currently applicable fee schedule established by the government and, once the quotation has been accepted, can make the payment via one of the established procedures.
Please note that technical issues may mean that the final reproduction fee is lower than initially quoted. In this case, the Biblioteca Nacional will reimburse the applicant the difference. If the final fee is higher than initially quoted, the applicant will pay the Biblioteca Nacional the difference.
