Admission rules:
Users must hold a readers' or researchers' library card.
Works that can be consulted in this room:
Sala Barbieri
Manuscript and printed musical scores, manuscript and printed specialist books on music and musicology, specialist journals and pamphlets, original Spanish music archives, sound recordings, audiovisual and multimedia documents, spoken word archive.
Consultation:

- Unrestricted access: The library's reference works on books about and critiques of musical scores are directly accessible to users and do not need to be requested.
- On request: Readers can request up to 3 works at a same time. An advance request is required for archives held in the building in Alcalá de Henares.
Individual listening and viewing cabins:
Four independent cabins are available for users to listen to and view sound and video recordings.

Sistema de reproducciones:
A maximum of 20 photocopies may be made of works published from 1958 onwards, provided that they are in a good state of conservation. Other reproductions should be requested from the Reproductions service.
Use of PCs:
The PCs in the Barbieri Room may be used to search the Biblioteca Nacional's catalogue, other information resources and other libraries' catalogues.
Readers may also use laptop PCs in this room. The Biblioteca Nacional provides wireless (WI-FI) Internet access in this room free of charge.
