Admission rules:
Users must hold a readers' or researchers' library card. To use the loan service, users must hold a specific library documentation card.
Works that can be consulted in this room:
Works on all media specialising in library science and documentation. This specialist collection contains archives from the former School of Documentalists (Escuela de Documentalistas), National Reading Service (Servicio Nacional de Lectura), Spanish Bibliographic Institute (Instituto Bibliográfico Hispánico), Spanish Book Institute (Instituto Nacional del Libro Español) and the Bibliographic Information Section (works for information science professionals with the IB call number).

- Unrestricted access: All of the works can be freely accessed and are ordered as per the Universal Decimal Classification. The Boletín de Sumarios de revistas "Al Día" (Up-to-date Bulletin of Journal Summaries) is published to disseminate information about these publications, providing users with regular information and facilitating requests for reproduction of articles.
- Loans: 3 volumes for 10 days, which can then be renewed. Failure to return the works on loan within this period will result in withdrawal of the user's library card for a period equal to the number of days that the work is overdue, counted from the date on which the work is returned.
Photocopies:
A maximum of 20 photocopies may be made of works published from 1958 onwards, provided that they are in a good state of conservation. Other reproductions should be requested from the Reproductions service. Está permitido hacer hasta 20 fotocopias de las obras posteriores a 1958 en buen estado de conservación. Otras reproducciones deben ser solicitadas en el servicio de Reprografía.
Use of PCs:
The PCs in the Library documentation Room may be used to search the Biblioteca Nacional's catalogue, other information resources and other libraries' catalogues.
Readers may also use laptop PCs in this room. The Biblioteca Nacional provides wireless (WI-FI) Internet access in this room free of charge.
