Exports from Catalog
The export of bibliographic records begins by performing a search in the Catalog itself. All users who access the Catalog will have the following record export operations at their disposal.
On the search results screen, each record has a button on the right called “Show action options.” All options will open:
- Export of files in BibTex, RIS and Excel formats
- Copy the permanent link or share it on social networks
- Send the bibliographic citation to different bibliographic citation management systems (Mendeley)
- Copy the bibliographic citation in different styles (MLA, APA, Chicago/Turabian, Harvard)
My favorite
In each session, favorite records can be saved by clicking on the pin icon (Keep this item) located to the right of each record. Records marked as favorites can be claimed by clicking the pin icon (Go to my favorites) at the top right of the screen.
Likewise, it is possible to select different records individually or all of them on a page and save this selection in Favorites and claim it later for export.
You can also mark a record as a favorite from the full view of a record.
Export 2709 ISO or MARC XML
In the complete display of each record, in the “Links” section there are two buttons to export in the ISO 2709 or MARC XML library formats. The ISO 2709 format encodes the records so that Library Management Systems (LIMS) can interpret them and integrate them into their databases. The MARCXML format consists of the encoding of a MARC record in XML (eXtensible Markup Language). This format allows various general-purpose software and many web pages to import, view, etc. these records.
Registered users
Users who have a BNE card will be able to identify themselves (for which they will be asked for their BNE card number and an email address) and access other operations such as Save query, access the Search History and organize their selections. of favorites. From any of these sections you can export records according to the options that have been mentioned.
Tips for the integration
The way to integrate ISO 2709 records into the different Integrated Library Management Systems (IMS) may vary. The file with the records downloaded from the BNE Catalog will have a different extension depending on the type of output we have chosen:
Output type | File extension |
---|---|
ISO 2709 | .mrc |
MARCXML | .xml |
Normally, SIGBs are able to import a file with records in ISO format 2709 (extension .mrc).
To open a .mrc file and convert it to a readable MARC 21 format (that is, MARC fields, each field occupying its own paragraph), you can use the MarcEdit software, specifically its Marc Breaker utility.
